Levan is an all-day bar and dining space in Peckham serving contemporary European dishes, inspired by the ‘bistronomy’ movement and our favourite eateries in Paris, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Stockholm and Berlin.
Levan is the 2nd restaurant from the team behind Brixton’s critically acclaimed restaurant, Salon
Levan serves seasonal and inventive food in a relaxed setting in the heart of Peckham, just off Rye Lane, moments from Peckham overground station. With an open kitchen, counter seating and a cosy dining room, the food, drinks and service has a distinctly contemporary European feel.
“I’m looking forward to bringing our sustainable approach to cooking to a more European style of restaurant. We picked the name because we’re all huge fans of Larry Levan, an iconic music producer and DJ who essentially tore up the rulebook and wrote the blueprint for what dance music would become. It’s this sense of freedom of expression that ties the work of Larry to the work of our favourite left-field wine-makers today, which will be a huge focus at the new restaurant. He changed the way people thought about music, and we’re seeing the beginning of a shift in the way that people think about wine.” Says Co-founder Nicholas Balfe.
Open all day, the menu straddles breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast menu is concise, with lots of healthy, feel-good dishes, and some naughty options too. It is built around quick to serve dishes, some of which are served directly from the counter.
At lunch and dinner, the menu is made up of smaller and larger dishes that work equally well as sharing plates or individual starters or mains. There is an equal mix of meat and fish alongside vegetarian / plant based dishes, as well as an enticing selection of snacks and smaller dishes to enjoy with drinks.
Wine & drinks
Our wine list is a love affair with the grape juice of France, Italy, Spain and Germany and their close neighbours. We work with a carefully selected range of quality, low intervention, organic and biodynamic wines from small artisanal producers. Along with a healthy penchant for the wines of Jura, through our list we explore terroir, sense of place and the exciting range of varietal differences that the wine world offers us today. Our cocktails and beers are also tied into this vinous ethos, with ale aged in wine barrels and spiritous aperitifs that look like wine.
